abrahammulder: Handel is great, let no doubt about it! But I
find Bach so very powerfull, for me he is the
crown on the barouqeperiod. I agree with you
that de harpichord music of Handel is great,
they are very melodic and of a rich harmony. I
think it is better to listen to their music
than to discuss who is better. I respect
Handel deeply and for me he is one of the best.
alb84guitar: I can suggest you to listen to Handel Suites by
Keith Jarrett if you do not know them. HWV 427,
429, 433 have wonderful fugues, and also 440,
452 are very interesting. I hope Cubus feels
inspired to learn something by Handel :)
alb84guitar: That's right, I am a fan of Handel... I respect
Bach and I love some of his fugues, especially
BWV 578, but most of his WTC fugues are too
formal in my opinion, showing a perfect
counterpoint, but lacking in artistic
feeling... But you are right, that is only my
opinion. Bach is generally considered the master
of fugue. Anyway I also believe Handel's works
for harpsichord are underrated and unknown to
many people, and that is really a pity.
abrahammulder: Handel is great, but Bach is the grand master of
fugue, that's a well known fact. Perhaps you are
a great fan of Handel but many people don't
share your opinion. Bach is the end of the
baroque period and his music has become a
standar for many composers after him. But I
respect Handel, he was also a great composer,
but not as Bach!
alb84guitar: HANDEL is the grand master of fugue! Bach
fugues are technical and formal, Handel fugues
are pure art! I can advise you to listen to the
fugues from HWV 427 and 433... Keith Jarrett
rendition is particurlarly well done!
PaulBartonPiano: great sound, I love it! beautiful music and
playing wow, it sound so rich and grand on my
headphones, I'm in another world. Thank you for
uploading this, it's brilliant.
cubusdk: On the previous version I posted of this
piece one commented as follows: 'This fugue was
the basis of Bach's Prelude and Fugue in D
Major BWV 532.'
abrahammulder: Beautiful piece. Of course Bach is the
grandmaster of the fugue, but I think he was wel
known with the music of Pachelbel. This kind of
music sounds better on the organ than the
piano. Good choise Cubus!
