This piece by Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) was discovered in 1941 in an album belonging to Emile Gaillard, a friend and pupil of Chopin. It is signed, "F.F. Chopin, Paris, 20 July 1840". The piece is also known as "Album Leaf", a title suggested by the discoverer of the piece.
