Shubael1809: I agree. His Scottish heritage is so evident in
this piece. The indication of a Scottish song
lingers in the sub-composition. Many dismiss him
because (like Massenet) they felt he composed
too much to his public requirement. Many
complain MacDowell's music is
overly-sentimental. I find a good deal of it
(especially this piece as played in this video)
mesmeric.

Great recording, a real earth shaker when the
32' open wood comes in. There is something very
nice about Macdowell's music.
